Tri-State Hosta Society's Annual Plant Sale is for members only.

Plant Sale Pictures

Our annual plant sale, our own version of March Madness, will kick-off the spring this year on March 29, at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum. Remember that only paid members will be permitted to attend the plant sale. If you have neglected to pay your renewal dues you will be asked to pay them at the door so please try to come a little early to help reduce the stress and mass confusion at the point of entry.

Don't forget to bring your lunch, A DESSERT OR A SMALL QUANTITY OF BEVERAGES TO SHARE, and your wallet or checkbook and visit with other members waiting "patiently" for the sale to begin at approximately 12:30, after a brief business meeting.

At this writing Kathie Sisson and Carol Brashear are working on a PowerPoint program that will show you what the plants available at the sale will look like when they are all grown up. As in the past, you will be permitted to make your selections at the sale tables through a random drawing, limiting your purchases to 2 plants on the first go-round so that everyone will have an equal opportunity to buy those plants in short supply. To speed up the process this year tickets will be called in a consecutive range of 10 numbers. You will be able to buy additional plants after a brief intermission. We have no formal speaker this year, but Bob Solberg, Dave Chopko and others will be available to answer whatever questions anyone might have on the subject of hostas during this intermission.

As in the past, your first chance to purchase plants will be through a random drawing, and your selections will be limited to 2 plants on the first go-round, to give everyone an equal opportunity to choose plants that are in short supply. After our program you will be able to return to the sales tables.

Though we never know for sure exactly which plants will be available for the sale, due to weather and growing conditions, etc., we can tell you at this time which plants were ordered, so you can at least compile your tentative wish list. The plants ordered were:

· Atlantis · Baby Blue Eyes · Blue Mouse Ears · Bodacious Blue · Cameo · Cathedral Windows · Coconut Custard · Country Mouse · Dragon Fire · Hideout · Journey's End · Key West · King of Spades · Lizard Lick · Machete · Midnight Moon · Midnight Storm · Miss Ruby · Mourning Dove · Nancy · Ocean Isle · On the Border · Orange Marmalade · Quarter Note · Rainbow's End · Silver Threads and Golden Needles · Singin' the Blues · Sweet Innocence · The Shining · Thunderbolt · Titanic · White Elephant

Hope to see you all at the sale! Thanks.
