Well here we go again! Our annual plant sale will kick-off the spring this year on Saturday, April 1, at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum. Since the sale is a bit later than usual this year the plants you purchase will require a little less TLC before they are ready to be planted in the ground. Remember that only paid members will be permitted to attend the plant sale. If you have neglected to pay your renewal dues you will be asked to pay them at the door so please try to come a little early to help reduce the stress and mass confusion at the point of entry. (If you mail your dues to Gene Tappan, 80 Ridge Rd, West Milford, NJ 07480 prior to the sale that would be most appreciated!) Don’t forget to bring your lunch, A DESSERT, OR A SMALL QUANTITY OF BEVERAGES TO SHARE, and your wallet or checkbook. Enjoy visiting with other members waiting “patiently” for the sale to begin at approximately 12:30, after a brief business meeting.
Prior to opening up the sale, Bob Solberg will review the plants available so you will be able to make decisions as to which plants best suit your own garden situation. As in the past, you will be permitted to make your selections at the sale tables by lottery, limiting your purchases to two plants on the first go-round, so that everyone will have an equal opportunity to buy those plants in short supply. You will be able to buy additional plants after a brief intermission. As we have done in the past, every member household on our existing membership roster will be given a $5 voucher at the door to be applied towards your plant purchase ONLY. Non members may join at the door for $10 but they will not be eligible to receive the cash voucher.
