Tri-State Hosta Society
Tri-State last visited the Fort Salonga, NY garden of Stan Tylinski in 1998. Stan gardens two acres in woodland settings, with winding paths throughout lined with old favorite hostas. He saves the newer cultivars for the beds around his house where there is a multitude of perennials, bamboo and companion plants artfully placed among the hostas. And, of course, don't fail to notice the many fruit trees and berry bushes on the property that are the source of Stan's delicious homemade preserves. Those of us who had the pleasure of visiting Stan's garden four years ago remember being treated to special snacks and hors d'oeuvres, but don't forget to bring your lunch. Tri-State will provide the beverages as usual. There will be an auction as well, so remember to bring some plants for the auction and a chair to sit on.
Stan is trying to arrange for a visit to another well-known garden on Long Island after the festivities at his home, and there will be the opportunity to visit Roslyn Nursery in Dix Hills, as well as a return visit to member Mike Koller's Nursery again in Medford. The details and directions to these possible side trips will be available at Stan's. Sounds like a full day so come and enjoy.
