Friedman Garden

Though Jeff calls himself "a second generation daylily gardener", with his parents being among the founding members of the Long Island Daylily Society, he has been experimenting with growing hostas along side of his extensive daylily collection for many years. The expansive bi-level deck in the back of his house provides a panoramic view of this immaculately groomed gem of a sunny garden, which features, not only many daylilies and hosta cultivars, but exotic tropical annuals, dwarf conifers, Japanese maples, and a collection of unusual perennials. Jeff has managed to turn a small backyard garden with a great deal of sun into a happy home for hostas.

Tylinski Garden

Tri-State has visited the Northport, NY garden of Stan Tylinski twice in the past, once in 1998 and again in 2002. We are grateful to be invited back again to see what changes Stan has made. Stan gardens two acres in woodland settings, with winding paths throughout lined with old favorite hostas. He saves the newer cultivars for the beds around his house where there is a multitude of perennials, bamboo and companion plants artfully placed among the hostas. And, of course, don't fail to notice the many fruit trees and berry bushes on the property that are the source of Stan's delicious homemade preserves. This is a large garden with much to see so take your time strolling along the many paths. Though lunch is on your own, Tri-State will provide the beverages as usual. Sounds like a full day on Long Island so come and enjoy.
